Is auto-apply safe? What actually gets an application rejected
What a company sees when a tool applies for you, the four ways auto-apply goes wrong, and five questions to ask any tool before you let it apply. With JobsEye's own numbers. 23 October 2026.
The short answer. Auto-apply is as safe as what it sends and where it sends it. When a tool applies on the company's own careers page, the company gets its own form, filled with your answers and your resume. What gets applications rejected is a wrong answer on the form, a role that doesn't fit, or an application that never reaches anyone. So pick a tool that:
- applies only to roles you choose;
- takes every answer from you;
- stops instead of guessing;
- shows you the company's own confirmation;
- never needs your job-portal password.
What the company sees
Most large employers in India read applications in their own system: Workday, Oracle Cloud, Greenhouse, SmartRecruiters and others. An application sent there by a tool lands in the same place as one you typed yourself, on the same form. The recruiter screens what's on it: your answers to the form's questions and your resume against the role.
The four ways auto-apply goes wrong
- Invented answers. A tool that guesses your notice period, salary, certifications or work authorisation can send something untrue. A wrong answer to a screening question can rule you out on its own.
- Volume without fit. Hundreds of applications to roles whose stated experience you don't meet bring fast rejections and little else.
- Your login in someone else's hands. Some tools sign in to Naukri or LinkedIn as you. Before you hand over a password, check how it is stored and what the tool can do with it.
- No proof it arrived. A form that silently fails looks like a rejection that never came. On a company's own careers page, the company usually emails a confirmation.
What we see in our own numbers
These are JobsEye's figures for applications sent on companies' own careers pages, 29 August to 20 October 2026:
- 88% were confirmed by the company itself by email, a median of 5 seconds after sending.
- About 1 in 5 got a written no. Most of the rest got no reply at all, which is normal however you apply.
- 71% of people who sent 50+ applications were shortlisted within 12 days: an interview or the company's own first-round test.
- The companies that shortlisted JobsEye users include Okta, Expedia, CrowdStrike, Wells Fargo, Citi, Concentrix, Thales, Wise and Morgan Stanley.
Companies rarely say why they turn someone down, so nobody can count rejections "for using a tool". What these numbers do show is that applications sent this way reach the company and get shortlisted.
Five questions to ask any auto-apply tool
- Does it apply only to roles I pick, or to anything that matches?
- Where does each answer on the form come from, and what does it do with a question it can't answer?
- Does it apply on the company's own site, or through a job board?
- Will I see the company's own confirmation?
- Does it need my Naukri, LinkedIn or email password?
How JobsEye answers them
- Roles: only the ones you pick.
- Answers: from your resume and what you told us, asked once, up front. If a form asks something we don't have an answer for, the application isn't sent, and it goes back to your balance.
- Where: each company's own careers page (Workday, Oracle Cloud, SmartRecruiters, Greenhouse, Ashby, TurboHire), never through a job board.
- Proof: the company's own confirmation email, in your JobsEye inbox.
- Passwords: none for Naukri or LinkedIn. JobsEye doesn't use them. Sign-in codes, password resets and account activations for employers' sites stay in your JobsEye inbox; the rest is copied to your own email with its label on top.
Frequently asked questions
Can a company tell that a tool sent my application?
It receives your application on its own form, with your answers and your resume. JobsEye applies with an email address it sets up for you, so the company's replies reach your JobsEye inbox.
Will companies blacklist me for auto-applying?
We have no data either way. Each company's Workday site keeps your applications under one candidate profile with that company, so its recruiters can see every role you applied to. That's why sending many applications to one company's roles that don't fit you is what to avoid.
Is it safe to give an auto-apply tool my Naukri password?
It depends on the tool. JobsEye doesn't ask for it, because it applies on companies' own careers pages.
Do I pay for an application that fails?
Not with JobsEye. You're charged only when an application is delivered; one that can't be finished goes back to your balance. --- JobsEye's figures are from its own applications, 29 August to 20 October 2026, our team's accounts left out. JobsEye is our product.
