Company careers page or job portal: where to apply
What happens to an application on a company's own careers page compared with one sent on Naukri or LinkedIn: where it lands, what proof you get, and what it takes. With JobsEye's own numbers. 24 October 2026.
The short answer. Apply where the employer reads applications. Most large employers in India read them in their own hiring system: Workday, Oracle Cloud, SmartRecruiters, Greenhouse and others. An application on the company's careers page goes straight into that system, under an account in your name, and the company usually emails you a confirmation. A portal application is quicker to send; a careers-page application is slower, but you can see it arrive.
What is different
| Company careers page | Job portal (Naukri, LinkedIn Easy Apply) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lands | The employer's own hiring system | The portal, or forwarded from it |
| What you fill | The employer's own form: often an account, several pages and its own questions | Your saved portal profile, often in one step |
| Proof | Usually a confirmation email from the company | The portal's "applied" status |
| Status later | On the employer's candidate home page | On the portal |
| Who posts | The employer | The employer, or a consultancy recruiting for it |
What we see on careers pages
JobsEye applies only on employers' own careers pages. For applications sent from 29 August to 20 October 2026:
- 88% were confirmed by the company itself by email, a median of 5 seconds after sending; 9 in 10 within a minute.
- About 1 in 5 got a written no. Most of the rest got no reply at all, which is normal however you apply.
- 71% of people who sent 50+ applications were shortlisted within 12 days: an interview or the company's own first-round test.
We don't have the same figures for portal applications, so we don't compare the two on results.
Where the careers-page roles are
JobsEye tracks 90,000+ live Indian roles on employers' own career systems. Of the ones it applies to, about 7 in 10 are on Workday, 8,664 on Oracle Cloud, 5,209 on SmartRecruiters and 4,321 on Greenhouse (21 October 2026). The employers with the most open Indian roles were Accenture, PwC, Genpact, Marriott and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
When a portal is the better route
- The role is only posted on the portal, or by a consultancy.
- You want to send many applications quickly with one profile.
- The employer's own page sends you back to the portal to apply.
Frequently asked questions
Is it better to apply on the company website or on LinkedIn?
If the company takes applications on its own careers page, applying there puts you straight into its hiring system, and the company usually confirms by email. Use the portal when the role is posted only there.
Do recruiters see applications made on the company website?
Yes. The careers page is the front of the company's own hiring system, where its recruiters screen applications.
Can someone apply on careers pages for me?
Yes. JobsEye fills each employer's own form for the roles you pick; your first 5 applications are free. --- JobsEye's figures are from its own applications, 29 August to 20 October 2026, our team's accounts left out. JobsEye is our product.
