The State of Hiring in Pune: What 3,010 Open Roles Tell Us

A count of every open on-site and hybrid role in Pune in the JobsEye index on 29 September 2026: which fields are hiring, at what experience level, and who is behind the biggest numbers.

On 29 September 2026 the JobsEye index held 3,010 open roles in Pune, not counting remote ones. Every one of them came from an employer's own career page, and each was checked as open before it was counted. This post is what those roles say about the city's market.

How we counted

Our index reads company career pages directly, on Workday, Greenhouse, Ashby and the other systems employers post on, and folds duplicate postings of the same role into one. The numbers below are counts of those distinct open roles in Pune on 29 September 2026. They are a snapshot of one day, and they cover the employers we read, not every job in the city.

How Pune compares

Across India the same index held 30,275 open on-site and hybrid roles that day. Pune is about one in ten of them, and level with Mumbai.

The wider trend agrees that Pune is growing. Naukri's JobSpeak index for August 2026 put Pune's white-collar hiring 14 percent above August 2025, level with Bengaluru and ahead of Delhi NCR (10 percent) and Mumbai (7 percent).

Which fields are hiring

Software engineering is about a quarter of the city on its own. What stands out after it is how spread out the rest is: operations, sales, finance and manufacturing each hold between 150 and 300 roles. Pune is an IT city with a large industrial and back-office market next to it, and a search that looks only at "IT jobs" misses a good part of what is open.

What experience the roles ask for

A role counts below when the range it asks for overlaps the band, so one role can sit in two bands.

The middle of the market is where the volume is. Someone with 3 to 9 years has the most choice by far. At the start of a career the numbers are thinner: 667 roles are open to someone with 0 to 2 years, 86 ask for no experience at all, and 123 are marked as internships, graduate or trainee roles. Who is behind the biggest numbers

The large banks and payment companies are the heaviest hirers in the city. Employers with more than 100 open Pune roles on the day we counted include Citi (205), Barclays (134), Mastercard (108) and Accenture (100). Behind them sit Jade Global, BP, FIS, Qualys, Genpact and Deutsche Bank with around 40 to 60 each.

That mix says something about how Pune hires. A large share of the open roles are in global capability centres: in-house technology, operations and finance teams of multinational companies. They post on their own career sites, often on Workday, and many of those roles never reach a job board.

What this means if you are looking in Pune

• Look past the job boards. The biggest employers here post on their own career pages first, and some only there.
• Search by field, not only by title. Operations, sales, finance and manufacturing together hold more open roles than software engineering.
• Mid-career has the most choice. If you have 3 to 9 years, you can afford to be selective about fit.
• Early career takes more applications. With 667 roles open to 0 to 2 years across all fields, freshers need a wider net and a resume matched to each role.
