# Entry-Level Jobs in Pune for Freshers: Where the Openings Actually Are

How many Pune roles are open to freshers and people with up to two years of experience, which fields they are in, and how to apply so the few that fit you count.

If you are starting out in Pune, the honest picture is this: there are openings, fewer than for people a few years in, and many of them are not on the job boards. On 29 September 2026 our index held **667 Pune roles that someone with 0 to 2 years of experience can apply to**, out of 3,010 open on-site and hybrid roles in the city.

## How many entry-level roles are open in Pune

We count a role when the experience it asks for overlaps 0 to 2 years. On that basis:

- **667 roles** are open to someone with 0 to 2 years.
- **86 roles** ask for no experience at all.
- **123 roles** are internships, graduate programmes or trainee roles.

For comparison, 1,747 Pune roles are open to someone with 3 to 5 years. The early-career market is real, but it is roughly a third the size of the one a few years up.

The national trend is on the side of freshers right now. [Naukri's JobSpeak index for August 2026](https://www.thepeoplesboard.com/news/india-white-collar-hiring-rises-14-percent-august-2026/) put hiring for people with up to three years of experience 15 percent above a year earlier, slightly ahead of the market as a whole (14 percent).

## Where the entry-level roles are

Pune's openings follow its big employers, and the same fields hire at the start of a career:

- **Software engineering and IT.** The largest field in the city, with 787 open roles across all levels. Global capability centres and IT services companies hire graduates in batches, often through campus drives and their own career pages.
- **Business and program operations.** 280 open roles across all levels: analyst, coordinator and associate jobs in the operations teams of banks and multinationals.
- **Finance and accounting.** 173 open roles, many in the finance back offices of global companies based in Pune.
- **Manufacturing and industrial.** 153 open roles. Pune's automotive and engineering base hires graduate engineers and diploma holders every year.
- **Sales and customer success.** 231 open roles, and one of the fields most open to people without a long track record.

## Why freshers need more applications, not fewer

Fewer roles to choose from and more people applying to each one means a lower hit rate on every application. Across [Ashby's data on 109 million applications](/blog/the-291-problem/), employers received 291 applications per hire in early 2026, and an application was about half as likely to lead to an interview as in 2021.

That does not mean sending the same resume everywhere. At the start of a career, the resume is thin, so the match to each role is what carries it.

## What to fix before you send the next application

- **Put your projects where your experience would be.** A fresher's resume is judged on what you built, not on your coursework. Two or three projects with what you did and what came of it beat a list of subjects.
- **Use the words the posting uses.** If the role asks for SQL and Excel and you used both, say so in those words.
- **Answer the screening questions properly.** Notice period, expected salary, willingness to relocate: a blank or a careless answer gets filtered before a person reads anything.
- **Apply on the employer's own site when you can.** Many of Pune's biggest hirers post there first, and some only there.
